Discontinuation of EUR 500 notes purchases/deposits
We wish to advise all our customers and the public in general that MCB Seychelles is no longer accepting purchases or deposits of EUR 500 banknotes.
In 2018, the Governing Council of the European Central Bank permanently stopped the production of EUR 500 banknote and to exclude it from the Europa series, citing concerns that this high value banknote could facilitate illicit activities.
MCB Seychelles continues to accept EUR 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 banknotes provided that they are in good condition.
We thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

SWIFT transfers to replace foreign currency cheques and bank drafts
MCB Seychelles wishes to inform its customers and the public in general that, given the delays associated with the transmission and subsequent clearing of foreign currency cheques and drafts, the following services shall be discontinued as from the 15th of July 2021:
1. Clearing of foreign currency cheques drawn on overseas banks
2. Issuance of foreign currency bank drafts
MCB Seychelles will continue to process foreign currency cheques issued by local banks and payable domestically.
In lieu of the above instruments, customers are kindly advised to proceed with direct transfers using the faster and more secure SWIFT system to receive funds or pay beneficiaries in foreign currency. Foreign currency payment services are available both on our counter and from our Internet banking platform.
