Fraud  attempt  on  ATMs:  cards  will  be  blocked  and  replaced  as  a  precaution

Victoria, 20 August, 2015:
The Central Bank of Seychelles and the Seychelles Bankers’ Association wish to advise the general public of recent fraud attempts on ATMs on Mahé, whereby fraudulent data detection devices (skimming devices), placed on certain bank ATMs have been uncovered.  
These devices have since been removed and the matter has been reported to the police and is undergoing further investigation.

Certain ATM cards used on these machines may have been compromised. As a matter of precaution, these cards are being blocked by the respective banks as of Thursday 20th  of August, 2015. Customers whose cards may have been compromised are being contacted by their respective banks which are also taking exceptional measures to replace impacted cards as soon as possible.

The Central Bank of Seychelles and the Seychelles Bankers’ Association wish to reassure customers and the general public that all necessary safety measures are being taken to protect their interests.
